St. George Greek Orthodox Church
1033 West Park Avenue, Ocean, Township, NJ 07712
Father Andrew Eugenis, Protopresbyter
The Heritage Committee purpose is to catalogue documents, newspaper articles, photos and memorabilia in order to make the, readily available to the youth of the Community and outside public for their education, research and inspiration. The Committee has created a library that is dedicated to the men and women, who on October 26, 1929, laid the foundation and cornerstone of our St. George Church. Originally, the church began in the basement of the Asbury Park library. Next, it moved to the Interlaken hotel and eventually to the elegant St. George Greek Orthodox Church, in 1960, on Sewall Avenue in Asbury Park. Currently, our beautiful St. George complex is in Ocean Township.
The library, which is housed in the conference room of our administration building, has over 200 binders filled with hundreds of sleeved, that include many subjects. The main theme of our library is “theology” which includes 80 notebooks, The Eastern Orthodox Church started with the Apostle St. Andrew. Furthermore, we learn about why the church is in the form of the cross. Also, we can identify and teach all aspects of the altar and our entire church!
It is my wish to open the young minds of today, for they are our leaders of tomorrow! The more our children know about our history and our religion, the stronger our Church shall be!

HERITAGE COMMITTEE THE HERITAGE
by Victoria Janda
No man may love the beauty of his race
Unless he know the path by which he came
Unless he know the blood-soaked hallowed place
here histories of the ages call his name;
Where footsteps of his father traced the soil
From sun’s arising to the last moon’s wane
With hieroglyphics attesting to the toil
Of harvesting and sowing of grain
