St. George Greek Orthodox Cemetery

2343 West Bangs Avenue, Neptune, New Jersey 07755

There are approximately 1,500 cemetery plots and of those, 1,285 have been sold which leaves approximately 215 available grave plots. Once those are taken, there will be an opportunity to expand. Costs are as follows:

EXISTING CEMETERY

Grave Plots: $1800 for stewards of St. George;
$2000 for Orthodox non-stewards

NEW CEMETERY EXPANSION

Grave Plots: $2100 for stewards of St. George;
$2400 for Orthodox non-stewards

Weekday Grave Openings: $1500 for stewards of St. George;
$1600 for Orthodox non-stewards

Weekend Grave Openings: $1600 for stewards of St. George;
$1700 for Orthodox non-stewards

It should be noted that if there is no written documentation in the Cemetery Committee record books to hold a grave and there is no deposit on it, and/or a timely method of installment payment, the reserving of the grave is not valid. A reserved grave must be sold at the current price. Any controversial aspects on graves must go through the Cemetery Committee.

The Cemetery Committee wants all current and potential grave owners to be aware that any permanent placement of cemetery items must first go through the Committee for approval. All grave owners are given a Rules and Regulations booklet – along with their Deed – that states under the heading General Rules #9, “The placing of boxes, metal designs, ornaments, chairs, settees, vases, and other similar articles upon a plot will not be permitted and if so placed, the Cemetery Committee reserves the right to remove them.” Before any memorial monuments are finalized, designs and measurements must be approved by the Cemetery Committee as designated in the Rules and Regulations booklet. Also, all Monument Foundations will be done through the St. George Cemetery Committee at a charge of $2.20 per square inch. In addition, power washing of stained monuments is recommended. For additional information, please contact the church office.

We are thankful that the St. George Board of Directors back in 1954 had the foresight to acquire land in Neptune to develop our own cemetery. It is fitting that we recognize them: Spiros Michals, Peter Athans, Louis Karagias, George Pappayliou, Spiros Pappayliou, Harry Heleotis, Andrew Karagias, George Panas, Dino Panas, Stephen Pappayliou and Sam Skopas.
