The St. George Greek School Program was established in 1926, moving from Asbury Park to Ocean Township in 2012. Today under the direction of Kelly Disakias, Greek School Director, and dedicated teachers: Antonia Tsiandi, Elizabeth Bozinos, Evie Bennett, Maryna Dioment, Marina Thomas, Pagona Hahlidis and Katerina Kiafoulis our program offers well-rounded academic Greek education to students from Kindergarten through 6th grade. The goal of our school is to make learning the Greek language and culture fun and to present all aspects of the modern Greek language to its students including vocabulary-building, reading, writing and grammar with emphasis on conversation.
Greek poems, prayers, and songs are used to teach the students about the Greek culture, heritage, religion and history. . Throughout the school year, our students have many opportunities to participate in skits, plays, and monologues during celebrations such as “Christmas” "The Three Hierarchs / Greek Letters Day", "Independence Day", and "Commencement Exercises". These programs reinforce the students' learning and showcase their stage abilities.
The school year runs from September to June with classes offered every Wednesday from 4PM to 6PM.
*In addition to our Greek School program, we also offer Greek dance lessons for children ages 8 – 12*
Dance is every Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm - Please refer to the Greek Dance web page for registration information...
